Vintage & Antique Clear Glass Salt Cellars (1880s - 1970s)

from $25.00

Take a look at 100 years of history in just three tiny glass pieces…

Popular in the late 19th to early 20th century, salt cellars were the height of elegant tableware (and certainly are more whimsical than an ordinary salt and pepper shaker). Many would have originally come with a tiny glass spoon to scoop and sprinkle out the salt.

The round intricately patterned salt is an Early American Pressed Glass Ellipse Master Salt Cellar by Bryce, Walker & Co. It is a true Victorian era antique gem dating back to the mid 1880s!

The other 2 salts are more modern and have no clear manufacturer details. The round scalloped/paneled edge salt may be from the late 1940s-50s, while the square cut salt is most likely MCM (mid century modern) with a resurgence of interest in Victorian fashion & culture hitting the 1970s.
